In the book "Neutron Star" by Larry Niven (I believe), there is a story (that I loved) about a space ship that was transparent. It was built to be able to withstand the gravitational forces within a black hole and pass through it. Although your ship is not transparent and the title of your picture has nothing to do with black holes, that is the very first thing that I thought of when I saw it.
I haven't thought of that story in a LONG time.
