Description

The official record states:

"Reactor problems may have arisen because military cruisers of the Earth-Romulan War era had not been intended to actually cruise for long durations. Frontline ships were drydocked every 18 months for several weeks for thorough examinations and maintenance of all systems, including the drive system. In contrast, exploratory cruisers were expected to perform flawlessly at 75% of peak reactor output levels for months at a time with only routine maintenance performed by the onboard engineering staff. After 6 or 7 years of operating under such conditions, some reactors likely degraded and became dangerously unstable. That ESSEX, SHENANDOAH, HORIZON, and ARCHON, were all lost (or presumed lost) after approximately 7 years of service suggested their reactors failed catastrophically."

However the truth was something far different... and a truth that would eventually catch up with the expanding sphere of human exploration.

OK, I'll try to put down the doomsday machine for a while. I just had one more itch to scratch with it (for now). (Remastered) Doomsday Machine mesh by Raul Mamoru (www.trekmeshes.ch), Daedalus class model by by Dave Metlesits [link] , background by Moonchilde-Stock [link] .

SHENANDOAH is my favorite ship name. What a sad end, for a good ship and crew. The ship looks intact, sort of! These guys look like they may have been taking readings, got too close, and didn't stand a chance. The ship is about the same size as the smallest chunks of rock the machine has cut up. From what I remember the ship probably triggered the machine's programed response from its tracking sensors to size/mass.
